Microsoft to Acquire LinkedIn

Yesterday the largest professional social network announced that they were being taken under the wing of the world’s leading multinational technology company, in an all cash transaction valued at $26.2 billion.

This dramatic move by Microsoft will aid LinkedIn in their mission to empower people and organisations. This new deal will enable LinkedIn to grow and continue to invest and innovate, driving value for their member and customers.

LinkedIn was founded in December 14th 2002 and was launched in May 2003. It’s is a business-orientated networking platforming allowing professionals to connect and engage with other likeminded individuals.

A spokesperson for LinkedIn maintains that the “LinkedIn you know and value is only getting better” and that it will “retain its distinct brand culture and independence”. In addition, Jeff Weiner, CEO will remain in his position at the company.

This recent change in LinkedIn, is said to change the way the world works on a incomprehensible scale and will benefit both parties to no end.

In the last year, LinkedIn has launched a new version of their mobile app with has resulted in an increased level of member engagement, enhanced the newsfeed to deliver better insights and released a new version of its Recruiter product to its enterprise customers.
